The managing director of major construction company Soldi Construction has joined the board of directors at Gloucester City.
In a press release on gloucestercityafc.com, the club said
Gloucester City AFC are pleased to announce that Alex Petheram will be joining the main board and the management board. Alex is the Managing Director of Soldi Construction, the eagle-eyed supporters will know that Soldi first came on board at the start of the season and have their group logo on both our home and away shirts.
Alex was born in Gloucester but now lives a little further south near Bath, however his desire to come home and natural love of football, where he holds a number of FA coaching badges and is already very involved in grass roots and non-league football; has brought him back to Gloucester.
“For me it was easy, coming from Gloucester and with my Dad still living locally it was a clear match. I love football and spend most evenings coaching or watching at some level. Gloucester City for me is club that has achieved so much in recent history, Rod is a great chairman with a clear goal and a massive heart. The club is going somewhere and like everything in life, now needs some new investment and blood to hopefully take the club to the next level.
For me it’s simple, let’s get back to Meadow Park in some form as soon as we can and let’s see just how far we can take the club. Soldi is opening a Gloucester office in the near future so I’ll be an active supporter and hopefully be a good sounding board for Rod and his team.”
Club chairman Rod Jenner said:
“It’s great that we’ve now got Alex joining as a Director and also as a member of the management board. We have now got the right blend of people involved at the club to provide the business acumen and footballing direction with which to take the Club forward. Alex’s can do attitude and positivity has really impressed me and I know the rest of the board are as excited as me to have the opportunity to work with him. There are very exciting times ahead for Gloucester City Football Club.”
Majority shareholder Eamonn McGurk shared his take on the news and also the future of the club.
“The Club has seen enormous change since last Christmas and with Alex coming on board, we’re adding more strength and support at board level. Alex will be instrumental in supporting myself, Rod and the rest of the team in getting this Club back to where it belongs in the heart of the City. I am committed to the Club more than ever and I urge everyone to get behind the teams both on and off the field. In all of my years at Gloucester City, I’ve never felt so positive about the future of the Club. There is still a lot of work to do but every day we’re moving forward and it’s very exciting to be a part of.”
