Lydney Town forward set to join Southern League side for rest of the season

Lydney Town striker Ross Gabriel is set to join Southern League side Cirencester Town, Severn Sport understands.

Gabriel joins up with former Lydney Town coach turned Cirencester Town manager John Brough and his coach, former Lydney manager Mark Lee at the Corinium Stadium.

From what we understand the seven days came in for the former Broadwell man last week and the move will be finalised and confirmed on Tuesday morning.

Gabriel departs the Rec after scoring 24 goals in 96 appearances since joining the club in 2017 and he will be looking to reignite his partnership with Lewis Thompson, who also made the move from Lydney to the Centurions at the end of 2019.

This now means that Lydney’s joint top goalscorers have both left the club, so manager Rich Kear is expected to bring in support for Declan Morley-Lyne, who is due back into action following a collapsed lung.

Lydney have completed a signing though, adding left back Tristan Murphy to the ranks from Kidderminster Harriers u23s.

Gabriel is expected to be in the squad for Cirencester Town’s return to Frome Town on Tuesday night in the Southern League Cup, before making his home debut against Sholing on Saturday.
