Longlevens made it nine games unbeaten with a hard fought 3-2 win over Fairford Town in the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase.
Debutant Rudi McKinnon put his Longlevens side ahead with a stunning 35 yard free kick mid way through the first half before John Watson’s ball in slipped through Ellis Parker’s gloves to level the game just before half time.
One of Longlevens’ summer signings Ethan Dunbar played a one two with Brad Martin before cutting infield and arrowing his effort beyond the despairing dive of Fairford keeper Sam Ayres just before the hour mark.
Then another Longlevens debutant, Joe Seery, added a third from the bench before Chris Turner-Williams headed home from a corner to set up a nervy finish for the hosts.
It was an expectedly committed and physical game as it always is when these two sides meet but in the end Longlevens stood firm to advance into the next round of the Vase.
