Gloucester City manager James Rowe says he was pleased with the performance despite seeing his side concede three goals in the last five minutes against Hungerford Town, in their final pre-season friendly.
Gavin Gunning’s first half penalty was added to by two goals from a Trialist for City before the break and it saw Gloucester cruising at 3-0 in the first men’s game at Meadow Park for 13 years.
And the hosts were comfortable until Luke Pennell dwelled on the ball in the box and Hungerford dispossessed him before giving themselves hope.
Pennell was then beaten to the ball by Hungerford’s Graham, who calmly slotted home to make it 3-2.
Then after a quick counter Hungerford snatched a draw that seemed unlikely for the 87 minutes prior.
After the game we caught up with Rowe to discuss the game, next week’s FA Cup fixture and the National League’s decision to allow for the season to start.
