In our featured game this weekend, a valiant Gloucester City side were beaten 3-2 by York City at the Jubilee Stadium.
The visitors took the lead inside the first ten minutes, when winger Alex Kempster swept home a cross from the left, giving on-loan City goalkeeper Zach Jeacock no chance.
Joe Hanks produced an absolute rabbit out of the hat for City, as the midfielder rifled in an effort from 30 yards that flew straight into the top corner to bring the hosts level out of nowhere.
City then took the lead in an end-to-end final fifthteen minutes of the first half, after Jeacock’s diagonal ball forward was chased down by Joe Parker on the left hand side. Parker then beat his man before playing the ball infield. It fell to Chris Knowles who squared for Jake Jackson to poke the Tigers in front.
The lead only lasted two minutes, when a corner from the right hand side was nodded in by York forward Jordan Burrow, who did just enough to head the ball beyond a rooted Jeacock.
Into the second half and Kempster put the visitors back in front when he beat Jeacock to a left wing cross at the near post, to poke to ball home.
Joe Parker curled in two long range efforts in the final twenty minutes, but both efforts were straight forward saves for York keeper Pete Jameson.
Zack Kotwica came off the bench for the hosts but was unable to help find an equaliser and the visitors were able to hold out for a three points that sees them stay top of the National League North in front of the 652 in attendance.
Gloucester find themselves in 14th place in the league, on 10 points and head to Telford on Tuesday night.
