Tuesday night’s action turned into a horror show as nearly all of the Gloucestershire sides failed to win their fixture on a terrible night of results.
In the National League North, Gloucester City went down 6-1 at Alfreton Town – with Danny Elliott scoring a hattrick for the hosts. Matt McClure had scored to make it 1-1 with his first goal for the Tigers earlier on in the match.
There were also six goals conceded for both Shortwood United and Fairford Town, with the Hellenic Division One West side being beaten in the GFA Challenge Trophy 6-0 by Roman Glass St George and Jody Bevan’s men being beaten 6-2 by local rivals Shrivenham in the Hellenic Premier.
Lydney Town and Longlevens played out a 1-1 draw in the Hellenic Premier, with Jack Rutter’s leveller for the hosts after Brad Martin had put the visitors 1-0 up after 10 minutes.
In the Hellenic League Division One West Newent Town were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline at home to Malmesbury Victoria, with Tom Boyle scoring the consolation for the hosts.
Forest Green Rovers lost by the same scoreline in League Two, with Cheltenham salvaging a late point with a 1-1 draw away at Bradford City.
Paul Michael’s Cinderford Town side failed to win one of their games in hand as they were beaten 2-1 at the Causeway by Bideford in the Southern League Division One South.
However there were two Gloucestershire sides who claimed a victory and they both came in cup action, with Cirencester Town advancing into the Southern League Cup Semi Final with a penalty shoot-out victory at title chasers Frome Town – with Jack Freeman scoring the decisive spot kick.
Also, Stonehouse Town claimed a great 1-0 win at Clanfield to advance in the Bluefin Sports Supplementary Cup in the Hellenic League as they look to build momentum into their derby day showdown with Shortwood United at the weekend.
