Gloucester City complete triple summer transfer swoop

Gloucester City have announced their first foray into the summer transfer market as Marc Richards has completed a triple signing of former players.

A statement on the club’s website said:

Gloucester City AFC are happy to confirm that Jack Deaman, Adam Page and Mat Liddiard are joining the Tigers for the 2018-2019 season.

Jack Deaman began his career as a youngster with Wrexham, before joining Birmingham City in 2011. He spent time on loan at League Two club Cheltenham Town, without appearing for the first team, and moved on to Conference South club Eastbourne Borough after Birmingham released him at the end of the 2012–13 season. After a trial with Cheltenham in July 2014, he rejoined the club on a one-year contract making 18 appearances for the first team before loan spells at Hereford and Salford City.

A defender who can also play in midfield, Deaman previously played for the Tigers in the 2016-2017 season making 11 appearances and scoring one goal.

Adam Page joined City on loan from Cheltenham, in September 2017, however, after making just two appearances, he was recalled from his loan with Gloucester City and joined Hereford on a loan deal until January.[7] Page’s loan was cut short in December 2017, after featuring eighteen times in all competitions including five appearances in their FA Cup run.

Mat Liddiard a graduate of Hartpury College, switched to Cirencester from City in October 2015 and established himself as a key man at the Corinium Stadium. He joined Evesham United for the 2017-2018 season (scoring 22 goals in all competitions last season) and now re-joins the Tigers for the up-coming campaign.

First Team Manager Marc Richards had this to say,

“We’ve been a little quiet in comparison to other clubs so far but it was imperative that we take our time and sign the right sort of players. I obviously know all three lads from their previous spells with us and they are returning to the Club already understanding the mentality and what it takes to play for Gloucester City.”

“I’m delighted to be able to welcome Adam, Jack and Mat back and as I’ve said before, we are a Club that values not just ability but the right attitude and these lads have both in abundance. I’m talking to a few others and I am building a team that I believe will be competitive in the coming season.”
