Former Cheltenham Town defender re-joins Lydney Town for the rest of the season

Lydney Town have added to their defensive options with the signing of Tom Handley, who returns to the club after a very successful spell with them last season.

Former Cheltenham Town centre back Handley links up with the club once again after a stint with Lydney in 2018/19, where he was named Young Player of the Season.

Handley was previously signed on at Southern League Division One South side Slimbridge, whilst also having a brief period on trial with Gloucester City during pre-season.

The 19 year-old defender caught the eye of several clubs since some impressive performances at youth level for Cheltenham and has opted to re-join Lydney for their Hellenic League campaign.

Handley is expected to be in the Lydney squad this weekend as Town head to Windsor in the Hellenic Premier, where a win could see Lydney move as high as 4th in what has been a great start for Handley’s side this season.

Saturday’s game kicks off a run of six league games in a row that sees Lydney play away from The Causeway, with their next home game scheduled for a local derby with Longlevens on Tuesday 19th November.

Lydney Town head to Windsor in the Hellenic Premier on Saturday 14th October; kick off 15:00
