Cinderford Town’s Blaine Waugh has agreed to join Longlevens on a temporary dual registration deal.
Waugh, a midfielder by trade, has found himself filling in at right back and will be utilised in that position due to defensive injuries at the Hellenic League club.
On Tuesday night Waugh was on the Cinderford Town bench during their 1-0 win at Cirencester Town, coming on for the injured Sam Turl in injury time.
Longlevens manager Mark Moore revealed the news live on The Severn Sport Night In and he confirmed that whilst Waugh won’t be in the matchday squad for the FA Cup game away at Northwood FC, he will be included in the squad for the Bank Holiday Monday fixture at home to Bishops Cleeve.
Waugh’s inclusion comes as Longlevens lost starting right back to Ryan Dunn a couple of weeks ago to injury. James Barnett had deputised in the position but suffered a shoulder injury that has seen him out of action since.
Longlevens do have Luke Kavanagh & Ed Smyllie who have filled in the right back position over the last few seasons but Moore prefers to have them available in the centre, along with Ellis Sausman & Kieran Squires.
The Cinderford Town man still remains a pivotal part of The Foresters’ squad, with Paul Michael saying in a statement on the club website,
“You won’t find a more athletic player at this level and he’s improving tactically all the time. Blaine is still a young player and one that we believe we can push on to higher levels by working with him on just a couple of things. I’m looking forward to Blaine having a huge season this year after.”
