Butler to join Football In Berkshire broadcast to name Hellenic Premier team of 2019/20 season

East meets West in the coming weeks as our man Ryan Butler is set to join the guys at Football In Berkshire in a special broadcast where the panel will be naming their Hellenic League Premier Division XI of the suspended 2019/20 season.

Butler joins FIB’s Rob Davies and Tom Canning to review the 2019/20 season prior to it’s suspension in March, looking ahead to the 2020/21 season – whenever that may begin and name their XI of the season.

Whilst the date is still TBC it sees Severn Sport and Football In Berkshire collaborate for the first time in the means of a broadcast, after Ryan wrote a couple of pieces on the best grounds to visit in Gloucestershire for their website a couple of seasons ago.

The six Gloucestershire sides were scattered throughout the final Hellenic Premier table when the suspension was confirmed in March, with Fairford Town in 3rd and Longlevens in 6th respectively.

In the Severn Sport End of Season Awards in May, Ryan named six Hellenic Premier players in his XI of the season, but he admits that his picks may not necessarily be from our county.

Looking ahead to the broadcast, Butler had this to say:

“Firstly I am delighted that both Rob and Tom have asked me to be included in the broadcast. Severn Sport and FIB have a great working relationship and hopefully this is one of many collaborations we can see between the two of us.

When it comes to naming a Hellenic Premier XI it is easy for me to just pick all-Gloucestershire players, but after covering a whole host of Hellenic Premier sides last season I have been lucky enough to witness a high quality of players across the league.

Being honest I know more about Tom than I do Rob so it is exciting for me to see how he approaches his picks, as we all enjoy different things about football and that will hopefully make for an exciting XI and most importantly an entertaining, yet informative broadcast.

I can’t wait for the broadcast and to appear on a Berkshire-based media outlet being originally from Reading.”
