Sunday 26th January 2020 is a date that will be remembered by Fin Brown and everyone who knows him inside and outside of football as it was the day he and his friends were attacked whilst on a night out.
The Newent Town defender suffered two stab wounds to his neck and had it not been for the help of friends, passers by and staff at Gloucester Royal Hospital, Brown could easily not be with us anymore.
But thankfully a year later Brown has made a recovery and has been able to put on the Newent kit, in what has been a stop start season and now he is looking to do his bit for charity and to raise awareness of the dangers of knife crime – especially in Gloucestershire.
Starting Tuesday morning, the former Slimbridge U18s and Longlevens man will be running 10km every day for 10 days in order to raise funds for local charity Increase The Peace – a charity within the county who’s motto is “supporting young people to make positive life choices,” a sentiment we can all get behind.
