Bloomfield fully commits to Tuffley Rovers and joins U18s side from Slimbridge

Forward Adam Bloomfield has confirmed that he has left Slimbridge and has fully committed to Tuffley Rovers, including signing on with their U18s side.

The 18 year old striker joined Rovers on a dual registration towards the end of the 2018/19 season before continuing the registration for the start of this term, but Bloomfield admits it was time for him to make a decision in order to benefit his development.

“There are many reasons I have made the decision,” the former Forest Green Rovers youth player said. “My main reason was being part of the First Team at Tuffley and getting to see what a great set up they have. I felt like it was the right time for a change, to go on and start something new as I felt I wasn’t progressing.”

“Of course it was never going to be an easy decision to leave a team like Slimbridge, with some good lads that I have played with for several years, but I know most of the lads down at Tuffley anyway and I’ve been given a warm welcome already, which is great!” Bloomfield added.

Bloomfield made an impact last season with the Young Swans as they finished 2nd in an impressive first season as a team. The forward made a number of appearances in the Severn Sport Team of the Month and was also nominated for our Young Player of the Year at the Severn Sport End of Season Awards.

The forward is ready to join up with his new teammates and to add a sub plot to his debut for Tuffley Rovers U18s, it will be against Slimbridge U18s in the County Cup on Monday 21st October at Glevum Park and Bloomfield admits he just can’t wait to get started.

“I’m more than excited! I was really impressed with Tuffley when we played them a couple of weeks ago and the way they have been playing has been great. I can’t wait to join the guys and get as many goals as I can alongside Niall [Niall Priday] and the others.

I’m absolutely buzzing with the fact that I am starting with such an important game, especially against Slimbridge and hopefully we can get started with a win and I can start getting back to my old self,” Bloomfield added.

Following the signing being confirmed Tuffley Rovers U18s manager Jamie Hyett spoke to us about the inclusion of Bloomfield and what he is expecting from his new forward.

“Neil Spiller [Tuffley Rovers Chairman] has been keen to implement a united club and if you are signed for one team in the club you should be available to every team you are eligible for. So our U18s must play senior football at Tuffley and vice versa if eligible, so Adam had the choice to make and he decided that Tuffley was the right choice for him.

Severn Sport, like those who have seen us this season can see our squad is looking really good and exciting, especially the attacking players.

With all of the exciting players we have the one thing we have lacked is a genuine 18 yard box striker, as all of the other attacking players we have like to drop deep and join the play but having been on the wrong end of Adam several times I know he’s got one intention and that’s to get in the box and score goals. I’m genuinely excited to see him link up with the rest of our exciting young squad,” Hyett added.

As mentioned, Bloomfield is expected to be in the squad for Tuffley Rovers U18s vs Slimbridge U18s in the GFA U18s County Cup on Monday 21st October; kick off at 19:30 at Glevum Park
