Former Slimbridge & Hardwicke midfielder rejoins Tuffley Rovers from Bishops Cleeve

Tuffley Rovers have re-signed midfielder Henry Birkett from Hellenic League rivals Bishops Cleeve this weekend.

Birkett, who was training with Tuffley Rovers over pre-season joined the Mitres at the start of the season but has found game time limited at Kayte Lane.

The former Slimbridge man joins a Rovers side who have found the winning touch, tasting victory in their last two games – including Saturday’s 6-1 thumping of Virginia Water in the Hellenic Premier.

Birkett is the third signing in the last month added to the ranks by manager Mark Pritchett, as he brings in experienced heads to compliment the young talent Rovers have coming through.

After Liam Gale & forward Lee Smith joining Tuffley recently, Birkett adds that extra dynamic to a midfield that is shaping up to be a formidable unit – with Jack Phillips and Kieran Alder currently being the first names on the team sheet.

Severn Sport understands that Birkett is in line to make his debut on Tuesday night when Tuffley welcome Hellenic League strugglers Abingdon United to Glevum Park.

Severn Sport will be there covering the game so you can follow the action live on our social media platforms. Kick off is at 19:45
