Gloucester City not entered into FA Youth Cup

The early rounds of this season’s FA Youth Cup have been drawn and of the 521 teams entered into the competition this year, Gloucester City Under 18s are not one of them.

It is unclear as to the reason why, but reports suggest that the club failed to complete the relevant registration on time.

Last season Ken Blackburn and Neil Mustoe guided the team to the First Round for the third time in four years, where they were defeated in extra time by Oxford United.

in 2017/18, Gloucester City Under 18s completes a league and cup double, before Mustoe left his position whilst Blackburn was subsequently told his services were no longer required, 19 years after starting the Gloucester City Youth Development programme.

Elsewhere, Tuffley Rovers will face Bitton in the Preliminary Round in the week commencing Monday 3 September, with Bishop’s Cleeve going up against Almondsbury.

Slimbridge have entered into their first FA Youth Cup, where they have been handed a bye into the First Qualifying Round to face the winner of that match at Tuffley, with Bishop’s Cleeve handed an away tie at New College Swindon provided they can get through their Preliminary Round tie.

The draws for the FA Cup and FA Vase were made yesterday, see who our teams will face here.
