Severn Sport has teamed up with Gloucester City to exclusively reveal the club’s new badge ahead of the 2018/19 National League South season.
An overhaul of the club’s identity was an idea that was talked about by the club, but following discussions between management board members and supporters, the plans were scrapped in favour of a refresh.
The new badge sees the removal of the black stripe running through the badge, accentuating the Tiger’s head.
A club spokesman said:
After much debate within the management board and after listening to the supporters on the terraces over the course of last season, it was decided that a complete overhaul of the Club’s identity wasn’t needed, however we did need a refresh.
What we’ve come up with is an upgrade to the existing badge, giving it a more modern and cleaner look which also incorporates a nod to our heritage with the inclusion of our year of formation, 1883.
This refreshed badge will also allow for better translation onto new lines of merchandising that are currently in development, the proceeds of which shall be directed into the playing budget for the coming seasons.
The announcement of the new badge comes shortly after the club revealed a world first kit partnership with X-Blades Sports, which sees the club become the first professional sports team to wear kit manufactured by the Doncaster based company.
