Gloucester City could lose three key players in off-season

Gloucester City could be in danger of losing three of their key players from the 2017/18 National League South campaign.

Robbie Cundy, Keiran Thomas and double Player of the Season award winning Ed Williams are all attracting interest from Football League clubs.

Severn Sport understands that central defender Cundy has already had trials since the end of the season, including one at Championship side Milwall, who just missed out on the play-offs this year.

Cundy signed for the Tigers on the eve of the 2017/18 season following trials at several clubs including Kidderminster Harriers and Southport, before becoming a mainstay at the heart of the defence, where he contributed with three goals.

The 2016/17 Supporter’s and Player’s Player of the Season Thomas has also been attracting the interests of Football League sides. The tenacious right back had a trial with Derby County towards the end of the 2016/17 campaign but was not offered a deal.

Thomas has been offered trials at League clubs during the season, however Severn Sport understands that the former Tigers captain has turned down such approaches due to limited first team opportunities.

Also on the radar for scouting teams across the country is reigning Supporter’s and Player’s Player of the Season, Ed Williams.

The gifted playmaker was the “X” factor for the Tigers in the National League South last season, with the side noticeably poorer without him on the field.

After a solid campaign which saw him add eight goals to his name, Williams has been watched by sides in the Premier League and throughout the Football League.

Severn Sport understands that Williams’ departure from the club will be imminent upon his return from a holiday in Asia, with League Two play-off finalists Exeter City said to be circling.

However, Kidderminster Harriers are the current frontrunners to land the young forward and it looks likely that Williams will be playing football at Aggborough next season.
