Gloucester City Under 18s star Noah Smerdon has been called up to the England Schools Under 18 squad to play in the Home Internationals’ Tournament.
Smerdon has caught the eyes of Gloucester City first team manager Marc Richards and was handed a first team debut at Bristol Manor Farm in the GFA Senior Cup, where he was named Severn Sport man of the match.
The Year 12 student of Sir Thomas Rich’s school in Gloucester is only the second Richian since former Southampton and current Tuffley Rovers striker Shayne Bradley to represent his country at football.
Due to selection rules regarding his age, Smerdon will also be available for the Young Tigers and England Schools in the 2018/19 season as well.
Smerdon is another name in a growing list of success stories from the Young Tigers who have come through the system to appear for the first team including Joe Parker, Tom Webb and Sam Avery among others.
He celebrated his selection to the squad by scoring twice, one a spectacular effort, in Sir Thomas Rich’s First XI’s recent 4-3 win over RGS Worcester.
