Cirencester Town striker Ben Whitehead took his tally to 27 goals on the season last night against North Leigh, as interest continues from teams across the leagues.
The latest team to show an interest in the prolific front man, Severn Sport understand, are National League South side Gloucester City.
With Marc Richards keen to add more goals to his team having only seen his side find the back of the net 30 times so far this season, Whitehead could be the man to help fire the Tigers away from the relegation zone.
Whitehead has already rejected approaches from Evesham United and Thatcham Town this season and in October, he committed his short term future to the Centurions.
Cirencester manager Charlie Griffin seems upbeat about the chances that Whitehead stays put at the Corinium.
“Obviously there’ll be people watching him. He’s the top scorer in the league and he wants to finish as top scorer. He won’t want to go somewhere else now, we’ve still got a lot of points to play for and he wants to be part of it.” – Charlie Griffin.
Gloucester have struggled for goals this season, with Joe Parker their current top scorer after finding the net 7 times since August.
The Tigers are also thought to be interested in Derby County youngster Lewis Walker as reported by Severn Sport this week.
Severn Sport has approached Gloucester City for comment.
