So now your wondering, when does everyone kick off and who are they playing? Well at Severn Sport we’re all too happy to help, here is the run down of the opening days for our local teams for the 2017/18 season.

The Hellenic Premier division now has five Gloucestershire teams competing in it with Fairford winning promotion last season. Fairford kick off their season with a Gloucestershire derby as they visit Tuffley Rovers, They play derby game one as on the same evening we have not one but two Gloucestershire derby’s as Longlevens host Brimscombe and Thrupp. Completing the opening day of the Hellenic Prem is yet another home game for a Glos team as Lydney host Highworth. As if you weren’t spoilt for choice enough on August 1st, Cheltenham Saracens are also at home in the Hellenic League Division 1 West, they host Woodstock Town. The Development sides of Cirencester Town and Shortwood United compete in the same division with Ciren Dev hosting Tytherington Rocks and Shortwood Dev visiting Easington Sports.

Cheltenham Town had a nervy end to the last season but survived their first back in League Two, they’ll be looking to improve on that this season and they kick off with a fairy even match up in the shape of a trip to Morecambe. Finally Gloucester City kick off the new season in a different division from last as they make a sideways move from National League North to National League South, a move which they will be hoping to improve their chances of a higher up finish, they have a difficult start as they visit Chelmsford City, one of the teams expected to be up near the top.
