Severn Sport Tipster League – Royal Ascot Day 5 Review

Well there we have it. Another successful tipster league is done and dusted for another season. What a final day we had! Low scoring for some but for others the chase to catch up On The Outside was paramount and it was a close finish in the end. Let’s dive in.

A word of note, all three of Sweet Prince, On Blast and The Gee Gee Girls failed to score on the final day.

3:40pm – The Hardwicke Stakes

1) Idaho 11/2
2) Bersanti 20/1
3) Chemical Charge 25/1

We won’t mess around with the points here, there were four successful tipsters here for Idaho so 3 points go to Square Leg, The Press Officer, Mr & Mrs Severn Sport and most importantly On The Outside – who in the process notched up their 8th winner of the league.

5:00pm – The Wokingham Stakes

1) Out Do 25/1
2) Steady Pace 16/1
3) Projection 15/2
4) Polybius 33/1

A tough race on paper and in reality for our tipsters as none of them managed to even get a point here. Two competitors picked Steady Pace to win and a couple had Projection as either winner or reserve. Unlucky team.
And so it comes down to the final race, the Queen Alexandra Stakes. Remember if anyone got the winner they would receive double win points let’s see how the tipsters got on.

5:35pm – The Queen Alexandra Stakes

1) Oriental Fox 10/1
2) Thomas Hobson 2/1 F
3) US Army Ranger 7/2

To start with there were place points for Bacon, The Press Officer and Mr & Mrs Severn Sport for picking US Army Ranger and Thomas Hobson to place between them, all three picking up 1 point towards their final totals. But the big winners for Oriental Fox, picking up 8 points were Square Leg, The Bear and The Fox – the latter of which really came to life in the final two days of the league and looked to finish in the place positions himself.

So had anyone done enough to catch On The Outside? Let’s have a look at the final table for the Royal Ascot edition of the Severn Sport Tipster League

No they hadn’t!! A massive congratulations has to go to our new King Tipsters, Zak Kotwica & Joe Hanks from Gloucester City AFC, but formerly known as On The Outside! They secured top spot by picking winners more consistently than the others and just got their noses in front early on enough to give themselves a cushion to maintain top spot throughout. A massive couple of statements below though from our two former resident tipsters The Fox and The Bear who will be hungry for their crowns back I am sure! What an incredible performance from The Gee Gee Girls who finished 4th after two strong days in the middle of the week. Another consistent performance from betting novice Square Leg sees him finish in the Europa League spots where he is joined by Mr & Mrs Severn Sport who were one of the few to have their fair share of high and low scoring days the others being Sweet Prince, On Blast and Bacon who just didn’t score consistently enough – however the latter did notch up most placers once again! A disappointing finish to The Press Officer’s week saw him finish bottom of the pile. But all hail the kings On The Outside!

Now, to celebrate the end of another tipster league I have a second table to bring you. This table ranks all 12 competitors past and present on how well they have done during all three of our tipster league’s combined. Let’s take a look.

As you can see after three tipster leagues the current kings On The Outside have the highest number of points as well as winners and currently lead the all time table by 10 points to second placed The Bear Dougie Bowen. Special mentions to Sweet Prince Damon Highet for an incredible 14 winners in 3 appearances and Bacon 15 placers in 3 appearances. The obvious stand out though is Square Leg for an incredible 11 winners and 47 points in just 2 appearances with 23 points coming at Ascot and 24 at Aintree in April showing his consistency.

More importantly, throughout the tipster league’s and horse racing coverage this year thus far we have tipped you the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup (Sizing John), the winner of the Grand National (One For Arthur) and have guided you towards the winner of the Derby & Oaks proving that Severn Sport is the place to be for big horse racing coverage!
Thank you to everyone who has read and/or contributed to this week, Severn Sport appreciates everything that you do!
