Severn Sport Tipster League – Royal Ascot Day 1

Today marks the opening day of the Royal Ascot meeting, widely considered as one of the most prestigious and competitive meetings in racing let alone on the flat. Five days of thoroughbred action kicks off this afternoon meaning the infamous Severn Sport Tipster League is back!! And this time, we mean business!!

Severn Sport sit here boasting successful tips in now both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National race itself and we now go in search of more winners and more points. Once again we have 10 participants ready to back winners and give you guidance each morning of the Royal meeting. Our reigning tipster champion Charlie Hughes (Square Leg) is back to defend his crown against the consistent performers Joe Hanks & Zak Kotwica (On The Outside), the nearly men in Damon Highet (Sweet Prince) & Ryan Butler (Bacon), Severn Sport regulars Michael Hedley-Ward (The Fox) & Douglas Bowen (The Bear), Severn Sport’s own Kelsey De Maria (The Press Officer) and Matt & Emma Yates (Mr & Mrs Severn Sport) as well as Tipster League regulars William Beauchamp (On Blast) and Rosie Mayo & Maryanne Gay (The Gee Gee Girls).

Now we have the pleasantries out of the way lets get down to business. For those who haven’t followed our tipster league before let me explain. For three races a day our competitors pick a winner, an each way shot and a reserve. If their winner wins they score 3 points. If their each way shot wins they score 3 points but if their each way finishes in a placed position they will score 1 point. If the competitor’s winner and each way shot finish as 1st and 2nd they will score 5 points, if their each way wins with their winner finishes 2nd then they will score 4 points (a combination that has proven vital in previous tipster leagues). There are also bonus points to be scored as always, with 2 points up for grabs as a bonus if the competitor picks a winner of 10/1 or higher and 5 points up for grabs for a winner of 20/1 or higher. However, if the competitor’s selections fail to finish the race they will face a -2 points per horse that fails to finish.

Competitors set. Rules in place. Now its time to tip! Day 1’s races are as follows:

2:3opm – Queen Anne Stakes
3:40pm – The King’s Stand Stakes
