Gloucester City yesterday announced the loan signing of Kidderminster Harriers backup goalkeeper Jasbir Singh until January. Singh joins the Tigers’ as Newport County loanee Jamie Stephens departs, after his loan deal expired on Sunday.
Singh is a well known name to Gloucester City fans after some stunning performances against the Tigers’ for Solihull Moors in previous meetings in the Conference North.
Gloucester City boss Tim Harris remarked on how, despite his pleasure at Stephens and former loanee Paul White’s performances, he was looking to find a proven performer at City’s level.
“I have been pleased by the performances of Jamie Stephens and Paul White during their loan spells, however to obtain someone who has consistently performed very well at this level to take us into the January transfer window is a real plus,” explained Harris.
“Jas has not had much of look in at Kidderminster so far and when Gary Whild offered me the opportunity to sign him for the next two months this was an ideal scenario.”
“To obtain goalkeepers of the quality of White, Stephens and Singh are probably out of our price range at this moment.”
The Tigers’ gaffer then began to look ahead to after Singh’s loan finishes: “When we move into January we will look at what we can obtain permanently as we continue with our policy of building a squad for the long term as opposed to a quick fix.”
