BREAKING: 2019/20 Non-League Football Season is over?

The 2019/20 Non-League Football Season is over, for teams from steps 5 and 6.

After grassroots football was suspended earlier in the month due to the covid-19 pandemic, speculation has been rife regarding how the FA will be looking to settle the 2019/20 campaign.

Now, it appears that after meetings within the FA, leagues in Step 5 & 6 will be informed that the season is over as far as they are concerned.

However, it has not been confirmed whether the season will be declared null and void or whether promotions/relegations will be worked out based on points per game methods.

The news has since been confirmed by the Non-League Paper on Twitter, as you can see below.

Since the news has been released regarding the rumoured end of steps 5 and 6, there have been contradicting information coming out on social media regarding both the initial news and the subsequent news that steps 3 and 4 have followed suit and called for a termination of the season.

The Non-League Paper has shared the news that the Isthmian League has confirmed the news.

However, we have been sent on Twitter a screenshot showing an email distributed around the FA asking for the posts announcing the news to be withdrawn and taken down. The email goes on to say that whilst nothing has been confirmed, they have admitted that leagues have been asked their opinions.

Based on that information and the statement confirmed by the Isthmian League, it seems that the leagues are clear on what they want to happen.

It is advised that the National League are still looking to finish the season when time is right, but for now we all await further clarification…as if times weren’t as confusing enough already.
