Beardsell just getting started as he settles into life at Tuffley Rovers

Over the summer Jack Beardsell joined Tuffley Rovers from local rivals Fairford Town and the midfielder has told Severn Sport that he is nowhere done yet, after scoring four goals in the opening run of games for his new club.

After impressing for Rovers in the Severn Sport Shield pre-season tournament in July, Beardsell has chipped in with important goals for a young Tuffley side- including a late leveller in the 3-3 draw against Brimscombe & Thrupp on the Bank Holiday Monday in August.

“I really am enjoying my time at Tuffley so far,” Beardsell told Severn Sport. “We haven’t had the greatest starts, but everyone has made me feel welcome and I am sure that results will improve.”

In the opening six games in the league Rovers have only won the once, but one bright spark has been Beardsell – with the midfielder building a reputation for scoring long range goals and the former Cheltenham Town man says that there is more to come as he looks to add goals to his game.

“I do feel like I have the ability to score good goals and even since I was young I have had the habit for scoring long range goals. The most memorable one being my volley against Portsmouth when I was at Cheltenham, but for this season I need to carry on as I have started and I know I’m not done yet at all!

As an individual I’m looking to improve as a player and really push on, I want to make a name for myself and want to hear people mentioning my name and saying good things about me. This season I want to get 15 goals and do the best that I can to help Rovers and all of the boys!

From a team perspective I just want us to continue with our recent form but we know we need to concede less goals and could always do with scoring more. We have the confidence that as the season goes on we can improve and I believe we will as a team and I will individually too, as I said I’m looking to push on as a player.” Beardsell added.

This weekend Tuffley travel to Ardley United in the Hellenic Premier, before Beardsell goes up against his former club Fairford Town at Glevum Park on Tuesday night.
