Tuffley Rovers First Team manager Mark Pritchett has called on his side to show the same attitude a hard work as Tuesday night’s win, as they welcome Windsor to Glevum Park this afternoon.
A double from Ross Langworthy and a Brett James strike was enough to claim Rovers’ first three points of the season, with their 3-2 win over Shrivenham on Tuesday night.
The win came following a 5-0 drubbing in the FA Vase at the hands of Shortwood United last weekend and Pritchett told Severn Sport that it was important that his side reacted to last weekend’s defeat.
“I’m very pleased with our performance Tuesday night,” said Pritchett. “We played some great football in the first half and managed the game well in the second.
To be honest there was no message from Saturday’s game but it was very disappointing for everyone at the club so it was important there was a response Tuesday night and we got that.”
Tuffley’s win moved up to 12th in the Hellenic Premier table after their win and this weekend they host a Windsor who have had an equally as poor start to their league campaign and are currently without a permanent manager.
The game at Glevum Park gives Tuffley a chance to build up the momentum ahead of a tricky month that sees Rovers head to Ardley United and welcome Fairford Town in the league, with games against Thornbury Town and Cheltenham Saracens in the Hellenic League cups.
“We’re very eager to kick on from here,” Pritchett told us. “There was a massive buzz in the changing room after the game. Shrivenham have some very good players in their squad so it shows just what we can do when we turn it on.
Windsor have had a difficult start to the season like ourselves but it’s always a tough game home and away. We just need to focus on us, bring the same attitude and hard work as we did Tuesday and I’m sure we’ll pick up positive results.”
