Severn Sport to sponsor Fairford Town coaching pair for 2019/20 season

Severn Sport are delighted to announce that we will be sponsoring Fairford Town coaching duo Lee Randall and Jamie Reid for the 2019/20 season.

As we continue to try and give something back to local football, the pair join the list of players we have sponsored in the past – including Keiran Thomas and Jasbir Singh (both then at Gloucester City) and Tuffley Rovers full back Sam Hill.

Severn Sport’s Ryan Butler and Kelsey De Maria confirmed the sponsorship with Reid, Randall and Fairford Town manager Jody Bevan after the Robins’ 1-0 win over local rivals Brimscombe & Thrupp on Tuesday evening.

Following the confirmation all four men gave their thoughts on the sponsorship.

“The sponsorship is kindly appreciated. We all love the work that Severn Sport put in and it’s next level of dedication to local sport, in particular football. Myself and Rands and looking forward to seeing the guys at Cinder Lane more to hopefully see us continue to progress this season,” Reid said.

Randall added, “I’ve known the boys since they first started out at Gloucester City and it is great to see how they have come. It’s a pleasure for me and Reidy to have their support as well as the club as a whole. At this level to have support and the coverage Severn Sport provide is great!”

Severn Sport’s Head of Programming Ryan Butler commented regarding the decision to sponsor the Fairford duo.

“Kelsey and I made a decision last season to try and sponsor a player or coach every single season as we are always looking to give back to the clubs who have allowed us to grow and expand what we do whilst supporting us along the way.

I saw Jody Bevan’s Tweet last week saying sponsorship started at £25 a player/coach and we decided to sponsor two and after finding out who was available for sponsorship it was a no brainer really. Lee has been one of our biggest supporters since we first started out and he gave us the support we needed when we covered Gloucester City week in week out, so when the chance came to repay that support became available it was always one we wanted to take.

With Jamie, he has been someone we have grown to know and interact with over the last couple of seasons and he is a guy who is as passionate as we are about local football and during last season as well as pre-season this year we saw Jamie at local games, so again he was someone we were eager to show our support for.”

Head of Online & Social Media Kelsey De Maria added:

“It’s great for us to be sponsoring Jamie and Lee for the season. Lee is someone I have known for years through my time at Gloucester City and he is someone who has dedicated so much of his life to Gloucestershire football and likewise with Jamie, he’s been in and around the local game for as long as I can remember.

One of my fondest memories of his career is an absolute wonder goal he scored at Meadow Park against Maidenhead United in the dying moments! Personally, I’m very happy for Severn Sport to be associated with two stalwarts of the local game.”
