Ryan the Super-Mann as Frampton Reserves beat Brockworth on penalties

Frampton United Reserves goalkeeper Ryan Mann saved a second half Dan Alderman penalty and a further three spot kicks as his side advanced in the Reg Davis Cup, beating Brockworth 3-1 on penalties – after an enthralling 3-3 draw.

With both sides winning their First Round ties at the weekend very comfortably, Frampton started the game and flew out of the blocks.

Jack Hornsby found himself in on the left hand side of the box and his ball across goal was tapped home by Ryan Ford, with only 32 seconds on the clock.

Hornsby turned scorer soon after as Frampton doubled their lead with just 7 minutes gone. After a free kick was whipped to the back post, Hornsby ghosted in to head the ball home at the back post.

After the kick-off Ryan Ford was given a ten minute sinbin for dissent at a decision from the referee.

Brockworth started slowly and looked dead and buried in the tie when Josh Holford was able to carry the ball to the edge of the Albion box, before curling the ball into the net to give Frampton a 3-0 lead.

From there Brockworth improved though, and should have pulled one back through Shane Burford, who saw his initial shot saved by Ryan Mann, before heading the rebound wide.

Burford wouldn’t be denied for long though when he cut in on the left side of the box before ramming the ball past Mann and giving the hosts a lifeline.

Brockworth grew with the goal and made Frampton sweat just before the break when a scramble in the box saw Dan Alderman have a shot blocked and Jordan Alderman rifle the ball home to make it 2-3 at the break.

Albion completed a remarkable comeback inside the first 90 seconds of the second half, when the impressive Dan Alderman burst through on the left side of the box before slotting the ball underneath Mann to level it.

As Brockworth pushed for a winner with 15 minutes to go, a free kick in fell to Jordan Alderman inside the area and he was tripped…penalty.

Dan Alderman stepped up but saw his spot kick saved by Mann low to his right hand side, and with that the tone was set.

The two sides fought tirelessly til the end of the 90 minutes, but we were destined for penalties.

Frazer Wilson stepped up for Frampton to give them the perfect start in the shoot-out, with Mann following up the strike with a save to deny Jordan Alderman.

Kris Bulley made it 2-0 to Frampton in the shoot-out before Mann denied Dan Alderman for a second time on the night to really put Frampton in the box seat.

Player/co-manager Zak Tyers stepped up to screw his penalty into the corner and turn it into a must score situation for Brockworth…and they did!

Stan Brown stepped up with the best penalty of the evening, crashing it high into the roof of the net to bring Brockworth back into it, 1-3.

Frampton missed their next penalty before Mann produced his fourth penalty save of the evening to deny Shane Burford and send his side into the Quarter Finals of the Reg Davis Cup.
