Gloucester City announce first pre-season friendlies ahead of non-league allocation confirmation

Gloucester City have released their first run of pre-season fixtures ahead of the 2019/20 football season, as they await final confirmation of their league allocation over the weekend.

The current National League South side kick off their pre-season campaign on Thursday 4th July, with a trip to Cinder Lane to take on Hellenic Premier side Fairford Town – who are managed by former Tigers forward Jody Bevan.

The following Tuesday (9th July) City will be travelling to The Meadow to take on last season’s Hellenic Premier runners-up, Brimscombe & Thrupp.

Both games are scheduled for 19:45 kick offs, as is the Tigers’ third game on the list, a trip to Southern League side Slimbridge, on Friday 12th July.

City’s first currently scheduled Saturday friendly sees them take on current landlords Evesham United at the Jubilee Stadium on Saturday 20th July, with a 15:00 kick off.

The Tigers end their current pre-season programme with a trip to Toolstation Western League Division One side Wells City on Friday 26th July, once again with a 19:45 kick off.

All fixtures are subject to change.

Gloucester City are one of four Gloucestershire based sides who will find out their league allocation over the weekend. Sides in steps 1-4 have been given a date of Saturday 18th May 2019 as the date in which the FA should have completed the league allocations, with announcements being made as early as Sunday 19th May.

The rumour mill has been turning for a while regarding City’s allocation for next year, with it being expected amongst fans to see the Tigers make a return to the National League North, along with Oxford City. This is due to the fact all four relegated sides from the National League Premier are from the South and bar Braintree, are all located well below both City sides currently in the South.

Obviously, it is all to be confirmed so just like Gloucester City we sit in wait to see which league the Tigers will be placed for the 2019/20 season.
