Severn Sport 12 Days of Christmas – Day 10: Second half Hopper hattrick sees Tigers win early season derby

A little bit later than usual but Day 10 of the Severn Sport 12 Days of Christmas is here and today we look at our second Luke Hopper hattrick of the countdown. This time it came at Bromsgrove against local rival Worcester City.

Firstly, if you missed Day 9 and the first episode of In The Spotlight of Ryan Butler w/ Longlevens manager Mark Moore then re-live it here.

We travelled with the Gloucester City fans on the short trip up to Bromsgrove Sporting for the local derby between the two exiled clubs. Gloucester City came away from the game with the share of the spoils and the knowledge that their side were made of stern stuff under Tim Harris.

They were made to work late on after two quick fire Hopper strikes at the start of the second half saw the Tigers go 2-0 up. Lee Hughes pulled one back with 10 minutes left to give Worcester hope but Hopper completed his hattrick just two minutes later.

Colby Bishop pulled one back in the 89th minute but Gloucester saw the game out.

The Tigers would be up to their old tricks in the return fixture in January too as goals from Luke Hopper, Ross Finnie and Joe Hanks saw City run out 3-0 winners at Whaddon Road to stretch City’s run of wins over their rivals to 10 in 11 meetings.

Listen to highlights of the game below from the live commentary by Ryan and Kelsey on the night.

Don’t miss out on day 11 of the Severn Sport 12 Days of Christmas tomorrow as we continue to take a look in the Severn Sport vault. Tomorrow we take a look back at a fantastic summer of 2018, most notably the first ever Severn Sport Shield.
