Cirencester Town have bolstered their backline with the signing of former Thatcham Town defender Baboucarr Jarra from Swindon Supermarine.
The highly rated centre back who played for a Thatcham side that stormed to the Hellenic Premier title before becoming the first side from the South of England to win the FA Vase in four years, including an outstanding man of the match display in the FA Vase final.
Jarra was part of a Kingfishers side who ended the domestic season with an astonishing 40 game unbeaten run, including games against our local sides in the Hellenic Premier.
The centre half departed Waterside Park in the summer in search of a new challenge and found himself at Swindon Supermarine in the Southern League Premier Division South, but a competition for places has seen him make the switch with the Corinium Stadium beckoning.
Cirencester Town manager Charlie Griffin told Severn Sport that he was delighted to have Jarra in the squad for the busy festive period.
“We are very pleased to have signed Babs ahead of the weekend. He has got great experience and will add a lot of quality to our team.
They [Swindon Supermarine] have a lot a centre back options so he hadn’t been playing consistently for a while so as a result he came available. We are sure he will flourish in the team.”
Jarra goes straight into Saturday’s squad for the game against Fleet Town at the Corinium Stadium as the Centurions go in search of their first win in three matches against a side currently occupying one of the relegation spots in the division.
